A new store featuring authentic American Indian artifacts, jewelry, and candles, cards, dolls and pottery among other novelty items, has just opened in Rosarito. The opening of this store came from a death, a dream and a commitment to help fight poverty. Kris and Frank Barron have created a concept of helping an orphanage survive with the proceeds from this store. "When my brother died, I was left with a decision of what to do with the items he owned in his Carlsbad gift store. He left behind inventory that I could have sold to his partner, but an answer to a dream I've had, like a piece of a puzzle, clicked into place in my mind. I decided to seize the moment by buying the entire inventory. It was a catalyst to fulfilling a dream I had ever since I met members of a hard working Mexican family who, for three generations, have devoted their lives to children in an orphanage. They were in need of help and I knew this legacy from my brother could become a tool to help them become self sufficient." Food and basic supplies are now a gift to the forty children ranging from 8 months to 20 years old in the orphanage. The Santa Fe Trader's store is located in the popular Pueble Plaza south of the El Nido Restaurant. Don't miss it when you come to Rosarito!
