Using a telephone in Mexico

Trying to make a phone call in Mexico can be frustrating without the correct directions. Purchase a phone card if you use a public phone. You can find them at most pharmacies and many retail shops. Make certain you use a Telnor phone in order to avoid some companies that over charge.

To dial follow these steps:

Within Mexico: 01+area code+ number

To USA & Canada: 011+area code + number

For international long distance dial: 00+country code+city code+ number

Operator assisted long distance phone calls: within Mexico dial 020, International dial 090.

Collect calls to USA: 091+city code+number (02 or 090 for assistance)

 For local information (bilingual operator) dial: 040
